Authority Revisited

I had a bit of an epiphany (forgive me) a few weeks ago.  It really should have been obvious:

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”  (Matt. 28:18)

Jesus claims all authority for himself, and I believe him.  So that settles the authority question, right?

If only it were so easy.  Next question: “How do I receive the authority of Christ?  Is it mediated to me in some way?  And if so, how?”

Baby steps, baby steps…  One thing I am sure of: our authority is Christ.

Pretty much sums it up

We watched Edward Scissorhands last night, a movie I had never seen. At one point in the movie, after Edward has spent the night in jail, a police officer and psychologist discuss Edward’s mental state and his prospects upon returning to Suburbia, where a family has taken him in:

Psychologist: It seems clear that his awareness of what we call reality is radically underdeveloped.
Officer: But, will he be all right… out there?
Psychologist: Oh yeah, he’ll be fine.
